Yesterday (August Bank Holiday) on the spur of the moment, I decided to drive the 200 + miles from Worthing in W/Sussex to the area of my ancestors Berriew/Manafon. What an experience it was. Such peace, such beauty. I only had a couple of hours there but if I never return the memory will live with me forever. My family history is embedded in the area and I wonder why the family ever left. I have tracked my father's line back to 1769 and would love to find out more of the characters already found and if possible move even further back. Any information of my family history would be greatfully received.
Kind regards

:cheer: Hi Bryan, I was also in the area for the whole of last week - just got back!
what a wonderful week for weather too, standing on the tops of the mountains overlooking Llanfair, Llanwyddelan, Llanllugan, Manafon, Bettws & Tregynon, with Newtown in the distance, such a clear picture of the surrounding area. Did you visit the little bakery/cafe in Berriew? i may have been sitting there as well, as it is my favourite cafe, although it was closed for most of my week.
Bettws is my main interest (see my posting elsewhere), but i do have some info about Berriew & Manafon, I'll see if I've got anything to add to your details on your previous posting.
